I was out in the woods recently and picked up these three pinecone’s. All different sizes all resting within inches of each other. I thought to myself that these would make an interesting composition for a still life photograph. I’m not sure how I get myself into these things but one thing led to another and I’m making my first attempt at a focus stack. So out comes the tripod and the Canon 24-70 with macro on the Canon 5D mk3. I think there are probably six or seven exposures in here stacked together and the image is sharp front to back. It was a fun experiment. The light was kind of tricky and I did some things in post to lighten up the foreground and burn in the background a tad. Initially I did not like this image but it is growing on me.
