Abandoned wharf

The wharfs around Gloucester disappear regulary. When I was out earlier this month looking for interesting images this abandoned and then reclaimed wharf in Cripple Cove was very interesting. The lobstermen that work in this area have reclaimed part of it. Most of it has rotted away in the middle as you can see. This is happening all around the harbor and various projects have sprung up to fix some of it. The lobstermen have built it back up on the outside so they can tie up and keep their gear. It’s a little sketchy as the wharf is only about 15 feet wide. Mostly it’s a place to tie their boats up. Either way it made for an interesting image as the pilings in the middle are rotting away. I wanted to go down to sea level but getting there would have been real interesting.
